A young person's brain and body are still growing. Drinking alcohol can cause learning problems or lead to adult alcoholism. People who begin drinking before the age 15 are five times more likely to become dependent on alcohol.

Alcohol affects your body: Alcohol can damage every organ in your body. It is absorbed directly into your bloodstream and can increase your risk for a variety of life-threatening diseases.

Alcohol affects self-control: Alcohol can lower inhibitions and impair judgement. Drinking can make you say things you shouldn't and wouldn't normally say. If can also lead to risky behaviors like driving when you shouldn't and having unprotected sex.

Alcohol is risky for everyone; even those not drinking: If you are around people who are drinking, you have an increased risk of being seriously injured, involved in car crashes. or being affected by violence.

What is Binge Drinking? Binge drinking is having 5 or more drinks on one occasion. Drinking large amounts of alcohol at one time or drinking very rapidly can cause alcohol poisoning. This can lead to coma or death.
